Good portion, fast service and tasty! The prime ribs was soooop juicy and not over cooked.. also, not salty. A good place for good, cheap steak!
Came here for the first time ever on a Friday night, party of like 15. I CANNOT believe I never tried this place until now, it is so unique and special, I can see why it's survived for so many years. As a Bay Area Asian who typically doesn't eat a lot of "white people food," this place really impressed me. Pros: - BROAD menu with a LOT of options for everyone - you can decide to spend a lot or a little here depending on how hungry you are. It's like comfort-food central, there's so many options including tri-tip, turkey, clam chowder in a bread bowl, a bunch of feel-good sides like mac n cheese, SALADS, desserts. There's even a bar area. I got the roast beef dinner with mac n cheese, a salad, a dinner roll. - Pretty cheap for the amount of food you get! My roast beef dinner was ~$20 after tax, which is unheard of these days for the massive amount of food I got. There's really helpful to-go containers that you can take and pack up your food to go. - a REALLY unique and great space for big parties - it's self-seating because you order first in line, and it's like a food hall where you take your food back to whatever table you want to be with. So helpful if you have a bunch of kids, or a huge party of friends etc. Also very helpful because you don't have to go through the drama of splitting the bill since everyone orders their own thing. - Really easy parking lot with tons of space, and security! - Really nice and efficient staff - a staff member helped my friend carry her really heavy tray to our table! Overall, an extremely unique experience and I would 10/10 come back and bring my caucasian in-laws LOL. I'm impressed San Leandro has this little gem.
So yummy and something for everyone. My family loves to meet here after a show in SF. We've been coming for decades! I can't get away from my favorite classic roasted turkey "holiday" dinner (mashed, dressing, gravy & cranberry)...nom nom nom Everyone working here is so nice and helpful, the folks who run the floor and keep up the tables are ANGELS, that is not an easy job. It's not a "light" meal so come hungry, thank you Harry's
This place is so nostalgic for me. I used to come here often as a kid, when I would visit my grandparents. My mom, brother, and I would always get the corned beef dinner. It has gotten more expensive over the years and is less worth the price now, but the tenderness of the corned beef, paired with the memory of it, keeps me coming back every once in a while, when the craving for it outweighs the somewhat long drive. I got my usual order of the hand carved corned beef with mac and cheese as my hot side order. It also comes with mashed potatoes, which I switched out for more mac and cheese (really wanted mac that day), and a dinner roll with butter. I really like their corned beef. It's a bit salty, but the perfect tenderness. They also give a lot of meat per serving. I'm also a fan of their mac and cheese (if you couldn't tell), it's creamy and reminds me of a good home cooked mac and cheese side (like what you want when you got to KFC). Another side that we have really liked is their corn on the cob. It's a very good sweet corn. My dad always orders the turkey wing dinner. The service is nice and quick. It's school lunch style, where you grab a tray and order down a line, paying at the end. There is usually someone who helps carry trays to your table, if someone in your party is unable to do it themselves. The restaurant is very European pub style. There's a bar area and all the decor makes you feel transported out of the Bay Area. It just has a very homey and warm feel to it too. I definitely recommend checking it out!
I had a craving for turkey wings so I headed out to Harry's Hofbrau. Only to get there and receive devastating news. There's a shortage of turkey wings and legs. They aren't certain when they'll be able to get any. These are my go to meals. I was clutching my invisible pearls. Le sigh... On to plan B. I still love you Harry's. I hope you score some wings and legs soon.
Harry's Hofbrau is a foodie's dream ~ or at least that's what I thought walking into the San Leandro location for the first time. A Hofbrau is such a genuinely unique and fun experience, I wish there were more of them in the East Bay! My husband and his family have spent decades at Harry's - from countless holidays and milestone celebrations, this has always been the sweet spot. There is such variety here..from daily soups and specials, hand carved meats, salads, sides for days, desserts and more! While waiting in line your imagination goes on a wild adventure looking at all the items to choose from, so I would recommend to definitely come with an appetite! I love the turkey - on our most recent trip they brought a full turkey straight from the oven and I had a fresh cut slice..chef's kiss! If you want a big bang for your buck, check out the Carvery dinners (they come with mashed potatoes, a dinner roll, choice of salad or hot side order; pending on the chosen meat your wallet range is anywhere from $10-18). The space is large yet cozy, and if you're in the mood for a drink, their bar is beautiful and well stocked. The service is also so awesome - the waitstaff carried my extremely heavy tray to our table and immediately helped to clear extra items to make room for our family's serious smorgasbord! Don't sleep on the desserts - I had a slice of Boston Cream Pie which I haven't seen on a menu anywhere else locally! All in all, if you're looking to dress up or dress down, Harry's has you covered - and I'll mention this spot is almost always kiddo approved (or at least my gravy train choices were!) *Harry's has its own parking & at night, security is present*
This is our local go to spot for Sunday dinners Portions: huge Setting: classic hofbrau Service: good Food: good Portions: massive I enjoy pretty much everything that I order here. From the corn, beef and cabbage, to the turkey king, to the beef, stroganoff, meatloaf, etc. Everything is tasty and flavorful. You're not going to have a gourmet experience here, this is a place to come and have large, good family size portions of down home comfort foods. The dining area is massive, and they have a great beer selection as well. On Sundays there tends to be lines around dinner time but they move through it quickly. For the price you can't get a better deal for a complete multi course meal.
